Genetics play a key role, but diet, weather, pollution and overall approach to hair care are also crucial to getting and maintaining healthy hair. Find out how a healthy diet can contribute to healthy and beautiful hair.

Increase the amount of protein

A well-formulated diet is an important factor in the health of the hair and scalp. Hair is primarily made up of protein, so be sure to eat at least 45 grams of protein daily. Good sources include:

  • lean meat
  • poultry
  • fish
  • beans
  • low-fat dairy products
  • eggs

A protein-deficient diet can result in weak, brittle hair and loss of hair color, as well as hair loss itself.

Zinc

Zinc deficiency can cause hair loss. Include nuts in your diet, for example, Brazil nuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews and almonds will help fight hair loss.

Don't forget to drink and eat a healthy diet:

  • vegetables
  • fruits
  • green leaf salads
  • plenty of clean, filtered water
  • Enrich your diet with a multivitamin or zinc supplements.
Omega - for even more beautiful hair

Increasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids can stimulate your hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Although it won't directly cause your hair to grow, but it can improve the health of your scalp.

Omega-3 fatty acids are found in cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines and herring. Other good sources include:

  • linseed
  • yoghurt
  • curd
  • salad
  • cereals
